Celebrating Dr. Seuss’ Birthday!

* My March posts will most likely be with the new design layout!  Exciting stuff just around the corner!!!

We have our own Cat in the Hat in our house! - Feb. 2013

The Fun is Lots and Lots with Dr. Seuss Flower Pots! (that’s the best rhyming I could do…)

March 2nd is a very special day in our family.  Not only is it our eleven year wedding anniversary, but it also marks Dr. Seuss’ birthday. As far as our five 1/2 year old and 3 1/2 year old boys are concerned, the Cat in the Hat trumps our anniversary every year! I must admit too, I LOVE all things Seuss! Not as much as I love my husband though (Happy Anniversary, Honey!)

Last weekend, I was strolling through Michael’s Craft Store brainstorming for a Dr...

Fun with Felt on a Snow Day!

*I typically post once a month, but we had many fun things to share!

Fun With Felt = Happy Snow Day!

I needed a quick and easy activity to occupy the boys yesterday due to school being cancelled.  So, I got out all of my felt fabrics and quickly (actually madly) started cutting out pieces to make silly faces.  We all had a great time!  I did have a really large piece of felt fabric (about 3 yards) that I placed on our dining room table first.  This served as our background.  I then cut out pieces for eyeballs, hair, mouth, noses, faces – no need to be perfect – I actually preferred the pieces were not. New Things in the Works!

President's Day fun at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska

I don’t feel creativity raising boys has to be just about crafts, parties, trips, etc. I want to learn from others with boys and maybe you do to?

*For my upcoming March post, it will ...

Valentine’s Day Fun/Winter Outing

Homemade Valentine’s Day Classmate Cards

Our boys are ready for the big day of celebrating love & friendship, therefore they are excited to pass these cards out to their classmates at school!  With always the concern for students with food allergies, I try to find alternative gifts without food.  When I saw this idea in a 2012 February Family Fun magazine, I thought it would be perfect.  The concept is the same, but I put my own design into it.  Here’s the scoop:

* Small plastic toys from The Dollar Tree – we used dinosaurs and sea creatures (8      toys/package).  I later saw packages at The Dollar Store for 9 toys/package

* Black poster board (I cut the pieces 3″ x 8.5″)

* Red paper

* Tan paper

* Decorative scrapbook paper (I cut the pieces 2.5″ x 5...
